1971年3月12日　大分県出身。日本唯一のラテンロックバンド「BINGOBONGO」のヴォーカル＆司会として94年4月、アルバム「WILD　PITCH」でデビュー「BINGOBONGO」解散後の9７年、CX系「踊る大捜査線」レギュラー出演・真下正義警部補役で新たなスタートを皮切りに、TV・ラジオ・CMで活躍し始める。その後、エッセイ集「さよなら永遠に」「表裏一体」で文豪ぶりも発揮し、ドラマでもCX系「お見合い結婚」「花村大介」など数々の作品に出演。05年5月公開の映画「交渉人　真下正義」では、第29回日本アカデミー賞優秀主演男優賞を受賞。その後、06年「ＵＤＯN」「酒井家のしあわせ」、07年「キサラギ」と数々の映画に出演。07年には、ドラマ「今週、妻が浮気します」、舞台「恐れを知らぬ川上音二郎一座」でも主演を務めている。今回は、初の映画監督に挑戦している。

Born on March 12, 1971 in Oita Prefecture, Japan. As the vocal and emcee for BINGOBONGO, which was Japan’s only Latin rock band, Santamaria made his debut in April, 1994 with the group’s album, WILD PITCH. After the rock band’s breakup, he appeared regularly in the Japanese network CX’s TV show called　"Bayside Shakedown", playing police lieutenant Masayoshi Mashita. He revived his career with this role and became active in TV, radio, and commercials. Later, he exhibited his talents as a distinguished writer, with essays Sayonara Eien Ni ( “Good-bye Forever”). and Omoteura Ichi Karada (“Two-Faced Body”). He appeared in numerous TV shows, such as CX’s Omiai Kekkon (“Arranged Marriage”) and Hanamura Daisuke. He played the lead role in the movie Negotiator: Mashita Masayoshi”which premiered in May of 2005, and received an award for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role at the 29th Japan Academy Prize. He has appeared in movies “UDON” and "Sakai-ke no shiawase" in 2006, and Kisaragi in 2007. He has also appeared in a TV drama 「Konshu, tsuma ga uwaki shimasu」 (“This Week, My Wife Will Cheat on Me”) and he played the lead role in the stage play 「Osore wo Shiranu Kawakami Otojiro」 (“The Fearless Otojiro Kawakami”) in 2007. He makes his directorial debut with "Bento Fufu".
